Where Elves Come From

Welcome to our book Where Elves Come From. This is not your ordinary fairy tale since it is also based on real-life events, and mixed with the uncertainty and magic of the unknown. As though written by Santa himself, this heartwarming children’s chapter book expands on two girls whose friendship forms when the two meet on a playground, and then blossoms as their single parents fall in love and get married. However, their faith is tested when the oldest girl is stricken with cancer, allowing the family to make long-lasting memories before it is too late.

Filled with good morals, values and bedtime prayers, we believe our book will be enjoyed by all ages 5, and all the way up to grandparents.

May your home be filled with the magic and joy of Christmas, and may your hearts be filled with love and warmth. Let the magic begin!

What people are saying about the book
“This book is something that will tug at your heart and teach moral lessons to both young and old readers. It’s special in a way that Santa leaves a certain message in each chapter that can be taught and discussed, especially if you are reading it for children.”
– Dawn D.
“I had never found a book that was totally enlightened in my youth and wanted to attempt to bring my young son up knowing that books are still important. It’s a rare find to be able to read for children and also as an adult you both enjoy the story.”
–  PQF.
“A journey of never-ending surprises. Its format is slightly different as each chapter has a moral at the end which can be used to teach kids something valuable. I think this book would be a wonderful gift for kids and school libraries. If you’re looking for a storybook that also drives home a message or as a teaching tool.”
– Pamela F.
“The book is such an emotional tale… you go from happy to excited to sad and hopeful. In the midst of it all, that’s exactly how life and reading this with the kids was a great teaching experience. The notes at the end of each chapter are a summary of the moral and life lesson in each chapter which is presented in an easy-to-understand way for kids to enjoy and even relate to.”
– Mark D.
“The book addresses so many life experiences that can be terrifying for children and helps them understand the importance of family and friendship. The best part of this book for me is that it is both fun and highly educational. The author did an excellent job of both educating and entertaining readers. The balance between teaching and fun. Santa notes are also fun to read and make for excellent conversation starts with kids to help them understand difficult concepts. A great read for everyone in the family, both kids, and adults.”
– Ava M.

Some of our readers’ favorite
excerpts from the book
“When Anna’s mother left the room, Anna began to look at Emily intensely. She wanted to ask her a question but did not know quite how to phrase it, so she just asked straight out; Emily, did an angel ever visit you?… Anna began to smirk mysteriously, just as her father does when he’s up to something. “You will see!” she exclaimed.”
“Heaven is a beautiful and happy place where good people go when they pass and have to leave this world. Nothing bad happens there… The rabbits and bears are friends there. The cool thing is that people can also talk with animals, and we can understand what the animals are saying… To make it to Heaven, we have to learn to be happy here and love everybody.”
“Suzy thought back to how she felt when she was visited by Caramel, and then she knew that Anna’s was no ordinary dream either. It was real! She felt sorry for ever doubting her sister.”
“She gave her sister a smile of encouragement. Anna knew exactly what Suzy was telling her without words. Then something magical happened.”
“Some people say that God gave us two ears and one mouth because we are supposed to listen twice as much as we speak.”, said Santa.

About the Authors

Santa
S

anta was born a long, long time ago, really nobody knows how long ago. He was born in the North Pole, and he never left. But one night a year he travels North to South and East to West, And then back to home, where it’s always the best.

His father’s name is Father Christmas, and he is the one who brought us Christmas. Like all beautiful Christmas trees are green, the robe he is wearing is also green. His Mother’s name is Mother Snow; She is the one, who dresses the winter in a beautiful big blanket of snow.

Santa has a big heart, and he gives to everybody all that he can. He leaves us all the presents we like because he knows us all so well. Once morning arrives, it takes us no time to unwrap all our gifts very fast. But I’m sure you are all familiar with this story from your years past.

Of course, Santa went to school like every one of you. You can probably easily guess what his favorite subject was. It was geography in which he excelled and did so well. He knows all the countries on the map, without the use of Google map.

Santa also has a sweet tooth, That is why he cannot say no to your goody, especially your Christmas cookie. But when you see him, don’t you dare call him jelly-belly, Just because of his big belly!

Santa likes every animal, and every little creature he can talk to. Perhaps that is why some of you believe that your precious pets went to the North Pole. And magically became an elf after they passed, but deep down you all know it is not true! So how can your beloved pets end up in the North Pole? It is a funny story, let me tell you:

Heaven and the North Pole are ever so close, and that is how Santa can quickly go through. While he is crunching on his cookies, big sweet crumbs are falling to the floor. That is how your beloved pets can find their way from Heaven to the North Pole. And of course, Santa can’t say no to them, he is always happy to see them.

Now there is only one secret left to tell, and that is, who are those little elves. Where do they come from, and where do they go? It is only one click away in order to know! You must read Santa’s new book entitled: Where Elves Come From.

E

dit was born in Hungary, and I was born in Canada. Now both Americans, we met in Florida about 12 years ago.

The fact that both of us come from a single parent family, and the way that our parents always made everything in their capacity to encourage us to go after our dreams, was instrumental in our lives. Although life was not always easy, both of us were lucky to have had all this loving attention, and a family that took the time to make reading fairy tales and other books a priority. Thanks to them we still have a great love for reading, and now for writing as well.

We both grew up on Hans Christian Andersen and Grimm Brother’s fairy tales.

Alan

Those fairy tales not only made us use our imaginations and had interesting stories, but we also feel that they had good teaching moments and morals. We felt that many of today’s books are missing these types of stories. We believe that we need more books with beautiful, quality and positive thinking, so we decided to write one!

A significant part of this book also comes from a meaningful life experience that Edit still carries with her and wanted to share. It is from when she was working with kids in a cancer hospital. Here is what she was telling me; “I learned that these children have such an extraordinary love for life. They just want to grab every opportunity for happiness and joy. They don’t want to miss out on any good from their life. They live life to the fullest. They love everything and everybody that comes along in their life unconditionally, and always try to remain happy!” These are just a few of the reasons she wanted to include them in the book. She finished by saying “They have always been in my heart for so many years now, that I feel they deserve to become a legend in their own right!”

One day after putting all these things together, what is closest to our hearts and is always on our minds, we just started to write, and now here we are. With our story, we would like to take you on a fantastic and emotional journey. As though written by Santa himself, we hope you will also experience all those beautiful feelings that came over us as we were writing this book.

Contributor

Quien

We would like to thank our beautiful longtime friend Quien Graves for all her hard work, and the many hours she put into reviewing and proofreading our first draft and making our story come to life. She truly put her beautiful mind and heart into it.

Quien grew up with two younger sisters and two older bonus sisters, so she knows a thing or two about sisterly love! It was one of the most inspiring aspects of the story to her. She was instantly intrigued by this fairy tale not only because there was no prince to save a damsel in distress, but the true heroes came in the form of two young girls.

Although gratefulness is a daily part of life for Quien, she learned to appreciate people a slight bit more while working on this project. “Anna was completely fine one day and the next, life was turned upside down for everyone. It really makes you think.”

Pavel

We would also like to thank our illustrator, Pavel Tymoshenko.

Pavel’s illustrations speak for themselves without the use of words, and his dedication, perfectionism and the many hours he spent to ensure everything was to our satisfaction went far beyond the call of duty and is so very much appreciated.

Pavel is from the Ukraine and lives in the city of Lviv, Pavel’s main specialties are creating high-quality illustrations for books, websites, and advertising. As Pavel said to us “The main objective for me is that people are extremely pleased with the work I deliver, but in this case, I am hoping that it will also make people believe in miracles:”.

“Reviewed By Mamta Madhavan for Readers’ Favorite

Where Elves Come From by Santa, Edit Engel, and Alan McBrearty is a beautiful fairytale with some lovely messages for young readers that will make them aware of life, the experiences it teaches, and the fundamentals such as setting goals, always looking for the positive side of things, gratitude, and to have a happy, loving life through strong family bonds. Five-year-old Suzy meets Anna at the City Park and they become friends. Anna’s father can see the beginning of a great friendship between the two girls. It is love at first sight for Anna’s and Suzy’s parents and they soon become a happy, loving family that cares for each other. Their joy turns to sadness when Anna is diagnosed with cancer.

Set against the backdrop of the Christmas season, the story has sixteen chapters which have a moral at the end of each. The story has magic and real life events knitted together, making it an enchanting read. The illustrations capture the beauty and essence of the Christmas season and bring the characters and the scenes alive. There are a lot of good messages children can learn from this story, hence making it a good bedtime storybook and ideal for read aloud and story-telling sessions in classrooms and school libraries. The book is educational yet fun to read. The pain and sorrow of the family are palpable and it is a heartwarming story of gratitude, trust, friendship, love, family bonding, faith, and courage. The mystery of the elves towards the end of the story gives a whimsical feel to the book. The elves, the sparkle of the Christmas season, and the celebration mood make it a fascinating read for everyone.”

Testimonials from our friends

I loved this book!! It brought a lump to my throat and a joyful tear to my eye. There are many great positive, self-affirming messages in this beautiful book for youngsters to soak in. I am a parent and a teacher, and I feel a little fearful when I consider how children can’t help but be exposed to the negative influences around them, and at much younger ages than ever before. This, no matter how much we parents and teachers try to protect them. At the same time, there are so many beautiful and healthy influences in the world as well; many of which can be found in this book.

Noemi Berenyi

I love this story because it’s about a young girl and her love for her sister. As I was reading the rough draft, I felt as if I could have put myself in Suzy’s place at that age. She’s relatable. Some parts were hard to get through because my eyes were so filled with tears causing the paper to become soaked. It’s a good thing this isn’t the 1920’s and that one hard paper copy was all I had. It would have been ruined. Paper, ink, and tears do not mix very well!

Quien Graves

This book is a beautifully illustrated story of family relationships and the courage it takes to face very difficult issues that affect each other. It provides an opportunity for families to discuss moral values with their children as the story unfolds and Santa’s secrets are revealed.

Elaine Jeveli

To my dear friends, I personally would like to thank you both for writing this wonderful book. I think this book touches the heart of readers of all ages and in varying ways. It will carry you from our real world into a beautiful fantasy world and at the same time, warm your heart with love. Not only is it a great story, but each chapter can also serve everyone as guidance to use in their life’s journey.

I have to say that I was both happy and honored when Edit and Alan, asked me to read their manuscript to my grandchildren. They were going to be the first kids, to which the story was going to be read. However, living in Florida, and my grandchildren being in California, I had to read it to them via Skype. At first, I was skeptical about how I would be able to keep their attention through Skype, but I have to say, that those kids were just hanging on my every word as I was reading to them, and turning the loose pages I was provided. All three of them; Milan, Anacapri, and Gian, were just so excited every night to listen and learn more about the story. I could not even show them any pictures since I did not have any yet, but that did not seem to matter.

News from the authors

Welcome to Where Elves Come From,

We would like to thank you for visiting our website! Somehow and someway there is a reason you got here, and maybe that reason is that we were meant to find each other.

When we started to write this fairy tale, it was just that, a fairy tale, but we felt that it was more than just a good story. It is meant to offer a lot more to kids, but also to the parents reading it. It is to help motivated kids, to have and maintain, a positive outlook no matter the obstacles they may encounter in life. But after a little over a month from being published, and reading the reviews, we feel it can be much bigger than just a self-help book.

Together, we can all be a part of something bigger, something where we can all make a little history, a new legend! Together, we can create a new legend for Santa’s elves. Just like Santa’s legend was created a long time ago, we can now start a new chapter for his elves!

So, won’t you join us and get on board to spread the word for Santa’s elves!

e welcome you to donate our book because good books are always in need.

We want to spread this story, around the whole world, and you can be a big part of it. It is estimated that there are 80,000 deaths annually from childhood cancer worldwide. In 2017, it is expected that 15,270 children and adolescents ages 0 to 19 years will be diagnosed with cancer, and 1,790 will die of the disease in the United States.

We want to these children known and unforgettable, and we want to give them a little hope until someone comes up with the cure to save them all! Who knows, perhaps along the way, we will also be able to create a legend for Santa’s Elves? Won’t you jump on board with us?

Here you can donate books to cancer hospitals, schools, libraries, churches or any other places which you prefer, or you can let us choose the locations for you.

Thank you so much,
